Rocky Mountaineer to Feature on Seven's Sunrise

ROCKY MOUNTAINEER TO FEATURE ON SEVEN’S SUNRISE

Sydney, Australia (19 September 2019) – Sound the train whistle - Australia’s #1 Breakfast show, Sunrise, is climbing aboard Rocky Mountaineer this October!

The hugely popular program will experience the rail adventure that’s on everyone’s must-do list. Weather presenter Sam Mac will be sharing his experience onboard the world-renowned Rocky Mountaineer as it travels the First Passage to the West route through Western Canada and the Canadian Rockies. Sam will broadcast from 5.30am each day from Monday 7 October to Friday 11 October. The live crosses will be broadcast to more than 2.2 million Australian viewers over the week and will reach a social network of more than one million.

The Sunrise team will let viewers in on the magic of luxury train travel as Rocky Mountaineer winds through tunnels and canyons, alongside rivers, and around mountain peaks, experiencing this breathtaking scenery from the comfort of a one-of-a-kind bi-level glass-domed GoldLeaf Service train coach; while feasting on gourmet cuisine made from local Canadian ingredients. The Sunrise team will explore the iconic Western Canadian destinations as Sam Mac travels from the charming streets of mountain town Banff, to the postcard-perfect Lake Louise, before visiting a lodge in the mountains of stunning Kananaskis. Then it’s on to Vancouver for the last two days of his western Canada adventure. There is sure to be adventures aplenty at each stop.

This will be the Sunrise team’s second trip aboard the iconic train, having shared the journey once already with Australian viewers in 2016. The show’s popular host, Sam Mac, was freshly-minted as weekday Sunrise’s weather presenter last time the crew were aboard Rocky Mountaineer. Three years later, he returns to Rocky Mountaineer as a Gold Logie Award-nominated host.

“I’m pumped to be visiting Canada again with the Rocky Mountaineer team!” said Sam Mac. “Over the last four years on Sunrise I have visited Canada three times, so it’s a bit of a tradition now and our viewers love being taken along for the ride. Most importantly, everywhere you turn is a ready-made backdrop for Instagram, so it will be great to give back to my followers.”

Sunrise’s Rocky Mountaineer travel segments will air daily between 5.30am and 8.30am from Monday 7 to Friday 11 October.
